Google is asking local governments and residents to express their interest in the fiber optic trial, and to provide information about their community. Could this be what can kick-start the stalled Orlando IT industry ?

Typekit is a subscription-based service for linking to high-quality Open Type fonts from some of the worlds best type foundries. Using Typekit, a web designer can add a line of code to a webpage and choose from hundreds of fonts. You can now buy fonts at FontShop and host them on Typekit.
Typekit is produced by Small Batch Inc., a San Francisco-based company that has been involved in W3C working groups and the Web Standards Project as proponents and active designers of the web’s infrastructure platform. In 2009, the company announced their first round of funding led by True Ventures.

Code for America helps city governments become more transparent, connected and efficient by connecting the talents of cutting-edge web developers with people who deliver city services and want to embrace the transformative power of the web to achieve more impact with less money. Inspired in part by Teach for America, CFA works with city officials and leading web development talent to identify and then develop web solutions that can then be shared and rolled out more broadly to cities across America.
Code for America is a non-partisan, non-political organization made up of web geeks, city experts, and technology industry leaders.
Early funders include the Sunlight Foundation and the Case Foundation.

We will discuss how using a little restraint can help you take your site up to 11. We will discuss proper use of effects and styles in Photoshop to help your designs achieve the right treatment without looking like a charactercher. Also we will learn how using these principles to manage the weighting of multiple things on a page to improve usability and conversion.
